Simulation Modeling & Animation

Paladium Software, Inc. has over fifteen years experience in
the Material Handling and Processing industries. During that time, we have
performed over 100 simulation modeling studies. Models have been successfully developed
for a number of industries including:
- Material Handling
- Warehousing and Distribution
- Semiconductor
- Food processing
- Consumer products
Key Benefits
Extremely accurate models, well designed animations, detailed
and accurate data analysis have helped companies:
- Reducing or eliminating costly design expenses by thoroughly analyzing a new system prior to construction and implementation.
- Developing the most cost effective redesign and expansion of existing facilities by thoroughly designing and testing alternatives.
- Creating conceptual design animations which are used to describe and/or depict a prototype or development system.
- Significantly reducing implementation time by determining the best control system strategies to be employed. Control algorithms can be developed, tested and debugged in the simulation model and in many cases implemented directly into the control system code.
Well designed front end user menus can be easily added to the simulation model so
that the user may continue to utilize the simulation long after the project is
implemented.
Reference Accounts
Consolidated Mail Order Pharmacy (CMOP) - Pharmaceutical Order Filling
Provide a simulation model of the proposed system design. This new system
was larger and had more throughput requirements of any prescription filling system
in the industry.

What was modeled:
|
Used the simulation model to explicitly design:
|
 | Tote Conveyors |
 | Automated Pill Counting Machines |
 | Automated Unit of Use Machine |
 | Quality Checking |
 | Packing Operation |
|
 | the conveyor system |
 | transfer points |
 | full and empty tote routing logic |
 | number and location of order induction points |
 | automated equipment layout |
 | number of quality and packing personnel |
|
Pulver System - Dock Loading and Unloading operations
Provide a simulation model of an existing dock operation of a Bakery.
Needed to determine how many AGV vehicles were needed as well as the optimal track
layout required.
|
What was modeled:
|
Used the simulation model to explicitly design:
|
 | Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVS) |
 | Semi-Trailers |
 | Palletizing Equipment |
 | Stackers and DeStackers |
|
 | the AGVS system layout |
 | the number of AGV vehicles required |
 | the best number of truck docks |
 | expected truck load and unload time |
|
Picking System - Conveyor with Carousels and Pick Tunnels
Provide a simulation model of a proposed pick and pack system . The objective
was to determine if the conveyor system could handle to case traffic at the merge
and divert points and to determine the size and logic of the divert into each
pick area case queue.
|
What was modeled:
|
Used the simulation model to explicitly design:
|
 | Case Conveyor |
 | Carousels - 2 Pods & Pick tables |
 | Picking Operators |
 | Picking areas |
|
 | the merge and divert points on the conveyor |
 | the number of picking operators |
 | the size and divert logic into each pick area |
 | the range of order profiles which the system operated best. (Access Front End) |
